Our Show: 1st Winchcombe Scouts

Gloucestershire, Our Show
A few weeks ago 1st Winchcombe Scouts from Gloucestershire were contacted by their local Community Radio station, Radio Winchcombe, about making their own shows.  The Troop Leadership turned to Scout Radio to help out and one of our team got together with the radio station and ran a Troop evening giving the Scouts their first taste of radio. The audio below is made up of a few samples of what they recorded that night: [soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/playlists/21464491" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&show_artwork=true" width="100%" height="450" iframe="true" /] Scout Radio continues to support them as they work towards their first full program on Community Radio.

KIJ2013

Counties, Kent, KIJ
More than 6,500 scouts and guides from around the world arrived in Maidstone for the Kent International Jamboree  to the sound of Scout Radio blasting out party tunes around the site to get the action packed week started. The Scout Radio team had arrived a few days in advance, to set up the studio in a prime location opposite the main stage. After a few weeks of scorching sun we were battling to get pegs in the ground to secure our towering mast, but a few days on and we were battling to keep the wind and rain from inside our studio! Setting up a radio studio in a field has some challenges. Jam FM was ready for a very busy week, covering every aspect of the fun filled activities both on and off site at Kent International Jamboree, with a playlist of summer anthems and old favourites to k...

Counties, County Events, Events, Oxford, Oxford One World
One World 2013  was Oxfordshire's International County Camp and Scout Radio went along to join in the fun. The action kicked off on July 5th for two days packed full of many of the activities you'd expect at a week long jamboree. Scout Radio provided the chance for Scouts to produce their own show and entertain their friends on site, picking all their favourite music and they were able to listen back to their show via our website when they returned home. Thank you Oxford One World we had a fabulous time in the sunshine. Congratulations on such an action packed weekend. EIJ2012

Essex, Essex International Jamboree, Events, Jamboree
Scout Radio were in a prime location to run an FM station at this huge jamboree event, we were in the market square in the centre of the action. Around 10,000 people came together for this international camp and it felt as though Scout Radio spoke to most of them over the week. We were live on air from 7am to midnight every day, speaking to organisers, visitors, participants and playing some lively summer tunes to create a fun filled atmosphere. We also had young people on air creating their own shows, picking the tunes and telling us what it is like to be a Scout or Guide at this amazing event. Every night Scout Radio broadcast all the action from the main stage, the talent shows, the band performances and the opening and closing ceremonies, which gave all involved an even bigger audienc...

Longleat 2013

Counties, County Events, Events, WIltshire, Wiltshire
Scout Radio join Wiltshire Scouts @ Longleat for a fun filled weekend camp. Scout Radio set up in somewhat stormy weather in what affectionately became known as the ‘Radio Shack’. Scouts were not deterred by howling winds and came to join us to create their own 30 minute radio shows. We had small groups, large groups and some young people brave enough to take to the mic alone, which made for a really diverse range of stories and experiences of the camp. Thankfully Sunday was brighter and given that the Scouts had tired themselves(and their leaders) out at Longleat the day before, Scout Radio was very busy with people wanting to try on site activities. We soon had a queue out of the door, so towards the end of the day we gave as many people as possible a chance to get on the air by taking...

Counties, County Events, Events, Nottinghamshire, Notts The Big Weekend
Scout Radio at Notts BIG Weekend County Camp From Nottingham Showground Scout Radio broadcast live over the showground PA for the weekend providing a lively background to the excitement of all the activities jam packed into this amazing county event. Form the Winner’s Hospitality Suite Scout Radio had a fantastic view of the event, from Guides flying down the zip line, to Scouts coming off the Simulator looking more than a little queasy we had it all covered. Day one saw over 20 groups of young people create their own radio show that was broadcast across the site and online for parents and friends to hear at home. The evening entertainment was a fantastic Lady Gaga tribute act, she got all the Scouts dancing and singing along in no time at all. Scout Radio had the pleasure of interview...
