BBC finds hidden treasure at Jam FM

BBC Radio Norfolk and Jam FM 107.2 have completed a simulcast on both stations this morning.  BBC Radio Norfolk visited Norjam, the Norfolk Scout & Guide International Jamboree, on the Norfolk Showground as part of their Sunday morning Treasure Quest show. One of the clues they needed to find was located in the Jam FM studios on site.  Jam FM is a RSL radio station for the week long Jamboree run by Scout Radio. Kayleigh Poacher was presenting the breakfast show on Jam FM while BBC Radio Norfolk’s Kathrine Nash hunted for the clue.  For a short time both shows were broadcast on both radio stations. "We have tried a radio service at Marra before, but nothing as strong and interactive as Marra Radio that the Scout Radio team came in to run. They are a very friendly, professional and approachable group of dedicated people who fitted right into our operation. From the first email booking them to the weekend its self it was a very smooth hassle free service, which is ideal when organising events of this scale. More than 6,500 scouts and guides from around the world arrived in Maidstone for the Kent International Jamboree  to the sound of Scout Radio blasting out party tunes around the site to get the action packed week started. The Scout Radio team had arrived a few days in advance, to set up the studio in a prime location opposite the main stage. After a few weeks of scorching sun we were battling to get pegs in the ground to secure our towering mast, but a few days on and we were battling to keep the wind and rain from inside our studio! Setting up a radio studio in a field has some challenges. The Scout Radio team returned to Gilwell Reunion for the second year, in 2013. Once again, we were broadcasting from the training ground, both to the leaders and adults enjoying the atmosphere of the weekend on site, and those tuning in from home through the web. On Saturday, the broadcast ran from 10-4, while Sunday saw a broadcast from 10-1.30. Campers were also tuning in on their mobiles through the free TuneIn app, spreading the broadcast across the camping areas. Oxford One World 2013

One World 2013  was Oxfordshire's International County Camp and Scout Radio went along to join in the fun. The action kicked off on July 5th for two days packed full of many of the activities you'd expect at a week long jamboree. Scout Radio provided the chance for Scouts to produce their own show and entertain their friends on site, picking all their favourite music and they were able to listen back to their show via our website when they returned home. EIJ2012

Scout Radio were in a prime location to run an FM station at this huge jamboree event, we were in the market square in the centre of the action. Around 10,000 people came together for this international camp and it felt as though Scout Radio spoke to most of them over the week. We were live on air from 7am to midnight every day, speaking to organisers, visitors, participants and playing some lively summer tunes to create a fun filled atmosphere. We also had young people on air creating their own shows, picking the tunes and telling us what it is like to be a Scout or Guide at this amazing event.
