Scout Radio at the London Marathon 2018

National Events, News
April in London means one thing, the marathon. Adam & Martin from Scout Radio made their way into Central London to catch up with the wonderful Groups Ā manning the mile 11 drinks station as well as to cheer on all those running for Scouting. As a spectator you could not wish for a nicer day, and thousand lined the 26.2 mile route around the capital, runners were less impressed with the sun as it brought the hottest London Marathon on record. The mile 11 drinks stations provides a good vantage point for the spectator. Mile 11 is also a good marker for runners as they are far enough into the race to gauge how much of their training has paid off. Ā It is also a great spot for Scout Radio as we catch the Scout Runners as they go past. Ā This year was no different and in what has almost be...

We got them off the streets first so they were safe, they have an education. Some of them have left and work, have families of their own. We've got our first boy going to university and another one going to college and they are all absolutely delightful but they are all ...

Reunion 2016 – Tim Kidd’s first speech as UK Chief Commissioner

News
Wayne Bulpitt was appointedĀ as theĀ UK Chief Commissioner in May 2009, having been in Scouting since the age of 8. After an incredible term holding the position of UKCC, he's now stepping down and passing the role over onto his deputy Tim Kidd. At a ceremony yesterday hosted at the end of the 90th anniversary of Gilwell Reunion, the handover ceremony for the role of UK Chief Commissioner took place between these two heroes of Scouting. After a tearful farewell to Wayne, Tim took to the stage with his usual air of barely suppressed cheerfulness, and showed in his opening speech just why he is the best choice in the whole of UK ScoutingĀ to follow on from Wayne Bulpitt.
